The Bear Paw Service District board is happy to announce that we have hired Loren Jones as our Maintenance Supervisor. You may know Loren as a contractor who has done extensive work within Bear Paw for many homeowners.
Loren will be working part-time 20 hours per week to maintain all of the Service District buildings and grounds. He will perform much of the work himself as well as overseeing the contractors Bear Paw uses for some of our needs.
If you are aware of an issue with our buildings or grounds, continue to use this website to let us know about the issue. The board will prioritize & assign Loren's activities based upon our existing list of routine maintenance activities, issues the board already plans to address, and issues brought to our attention via this website.
If you become aware of an emergency issue within Bear Paw (such as a tree across the road), please notify the guards and they will contact the appropriate person to address the issue.
If you see Loren, please be sure to welcome him to the Service District.
The property owner at 1774 Village Road will be demolishing their house to rebuild a new house on the same property. The Hiwassee Dam Fire Department is using the existing house for training. Two very successful training sessions have already taken place on the property.
At the request of the property owner, the Fire Department will burn the existing house down on December 13th beginning around 8:00am and continuing throughout the day.
This will be a controlled burn with all required approvals having been obtained from Bear Paw, the Fire Marshall, Cherokee County, etc.
By burning down the house, less debris will have to be removed via dump trucks through Bear Paw.
On December 13th please leave Village Road and Nantahala as free of cars and traffic as possible. There will be numerous fire trucks on the roads and around the pond at the entrance while the house is being burned.
In addition, Rainbow Circle will be closed as well as a portion of Village Road where the house is located.
Hiwassee Dam Fire Department and all the other fire departments involved in the burn thank all Bear Paw residents for their support and patience during the time the house is being burned. Without distractions or interference the house can be burned as safely as possible.
On September 27, 2025 the Bear Paw Service District Board held a special session to determine how to address the issues with our pool. As was discussed in previous Board Meetings and the August Special Session of the board, the pool has a lot of major repairs that need to be made.
During the meeting on September 27th the board agreed upon a plan to address these repairs and a process to obtain the funding necessary to make the repairs.
Information about the decision as well as progress on the funding can be found on the "Pool Updates 2025" page on this website. Click the button below to go directly to that page.
